Janeen Solin, APCC (she, her)
Associate Professional Clinical Counselor #17487
Supervised by Nanci Kim, LMFT CA #95979
Janeen is a second-generation Afro-Caribbean American therapist who brings warmth, creativity, and cultural attunement to her work. She is deeply passionate about destigmatizing mental health care and supporting individuals from diverse communities in reconnecting with their most authentic selves. Over the past three years, Janeen has gained diverse clinical experience across school-based therapy, community mental health, permanent supportive housing, and residential youth care. She has provided crisis intervention, stress management support, clinical case management for unhoused populations, and culturally responsive care to clients from all walks of life.
Janeen draws from a range of evidence-based and creative practices including DBT, CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and Expressive Arts Therapy. Her work is deeply trauma-informed, honoring the impact of both personal experiences and systemic oppression on individuals and communities. She is especially passionate about inner child work and guiding adolescents through the complexities of growing up. Her integrative approach is client-centered, creative, and inclusive—always with the intention of creating a safe, empowering space where clients can explore, make mistakes, learn, grow, and reconnect with their true selves.
Before becoming a therapist, Janeen's journey began in the culinary world, where she naturally became an emotional support for colleagues and clients alike. Her decade in nutrition and culinary arts developed essential therapeutic skills: collaboration, attention to detail, clear communication, sensory integration, and deep attunement to others' needs. This background also taught her how food impacts our physical, emotional, and psychological well-being—insights that now inform her holistic approach to healing. Janeen believes that true wellness happens not just through traditional talk therapy, but through reconnecting with our bodies, our cultural stories, and our innate wisdom.
